War Slows Camp Reservations
Thursday, March 27, 2003 Filed in: Space Camp
News
An article published in the
Huntsville Times notes the current status of
bookings at Space Camp and how they are down for
the year due to the current conflict in Iraq (the
article was published at a time when war seemed
imminent, but had not yet begun).
Reservations for June and July camps are down by about 1,400 from where U.S. Space & Rocket Center CEO Larry Capps would like them to be.
However, the article does note that while reservations are down, revenue is still up since they haven't discounted the price of the programs as they did last year.

alterations to its cancellation policy.
As can be seen here on their registration page, the policy now includes the following:
Otherwise all cancellation requests will be held to our existing stated Cancellation

As can be seen here on their registration page, the policy now includes the following:
-
We will hold your individual reservation for US Space Camp or Aviation Challenge until such time that you can reschedule. -
For groups of 12 or more, we will gladly reschedule your contracted session to include the busy summer season dates if necessary. -
Full tuition refunds will be made provided we receive your refund request in writing no earlier than two weeks prior to the start date of your camp session.
Otherwise all cancellation requests will be held to our existing stated Cancellation
Policy. NOTE: We can not be held liable for additional or forfeited transportation charges incurred as a result of your desire to reschedule your camp session.

military conflict, and if you, your child or
group are unable to travel during that time
you would need to arrive for your camp

Space Camp Homepage Changes

News
Space Camp has reconfigured
their homepage a bit.
The rest of the site seems to be relatively unchanged for now though.
Feel free to vote over to the left as to whether or not you like it though. Further, you may read and post comments on the new homepage in this thread in the HabForum.

SpaceCamp DVD is now Out of Print

Movie
I've been
notified by Anchor Bay Entertainment (the
distributors of the recent SpaceCamp DVD) that their
rights to publish the title have expired.
My advice is to either go search high-and-low for a copy at your favorite DVD retailer or win the contest currently on here (see further down the page for details)!
Good luck either way!

Hold off on Making a Reservation for a Day or So
Tuesday, March 18, 2003 Filed in: Space Camp
News
New promotions
should be announced within the next day
(give-or-take) for camp.
While I have no idea what they might be, it'd probably be best to hold off registering for day or two until they're announced.
And the free flight suit promotion is good until the end of this month, so there's really no risk to wait (unless there's only one or two spots left for the week you wish to go).
More to come...

A Contest of Sorts
Saturday, March 08, 2003 Filed in: Hab1 News
Updated 03/11/2003, Please Reread
Some campers over in the HabForum decided they want to create some sort of logo or emblem to signify not only their proud status as a Space Camp alumni but also as memebers of this Space Camp community site.
Ideas as to what ends this will serve vary, but the general consensus is that it would at least be great to display around Camp when members return.
I think it's a pretty good idea, so I thought I'd take the ideas people have been throwing around and make a contest out of it!
So, while some sort of more official rules list will be posted at a later date, there are a few guidelines one can consider now:
When going about making the design, imagine as if you were to create a team mission patch for Hab1.com! Include whatever you think would look good and appropriate, and remember that mission patches come in all shapes, sizes, and colors, so feel free to let your imagination run wild!
1) Up to two submissions per person will be accepted: one incorporating whatever Space Camp logos you like best into a design and another one without any camp logos. You may submit one or both, but they will all be judged together. As a good rule of thumb, think if it would make a good poster or "mission patch."
2) Submissions will begin April 1st, 2003 and stop at the end of April...so get designing!
3) As a matter of preference, if you do this entirely on the computer (which I always encourage), please begin with a source file large enough such that it could scale to poster-size, if necessary. If you don't do this, at the very least, please make sure you would be able to recreate a larger version. If you create it on paper, submit a reasonably high resolution scan of the logo but be prepared to send a higher resolution scan if necessary.
PRIZES:
