Save the Saturn V

The U.S. Space & Rocket Center is beginning a project to refurbish the Saturn V which, after 30 years of being outside in Rocket Park, has corroded both inside and out. Plans are underway to refurbish the Saturn V and move it inside, away from the elements.

However, like almost everything else, such a project takes money! And you can donate! Donations are tax deductible, and will go a long way towards making a more suitable home for the Saturn V.

If you've been down to Florida, I think they are planning a similar facility for their Saturn V.

To get a better understanding of what's involved in restoring a Saturn V, locate the January 1997 copy of Air & Space Magazine, as it details the restoration process of the Saturn V down at
The Cape.

Head on over to
spacecamp.com and click on "Save the Saturn V Campaign" for more information as well as the place to donate!

Update: Well, I just donated my 50 bucks...it's not much, I'm sure, when compared to what they need for the project, but if everyone who's been to camp donated just a couple of bucks, they'd have more than enough! So, I donated for a couple of campers (or something)...why don't you as well?!

Mail Server is acting up

My hosting provider, in their infinite wisdom, is in the process of switching email servers.

So, if you've sent me a message in the past day or so, wait another day or two and resend it. If you are waiting for a response to an email you've already sent, please give me a little time, and I'll post back here when everything is running well again.

Thanks!

Update: Okay, everything seems to be working just fine now! Feel free to send any email you were planning to. Further, if you're waiting to hear from me, you'll receive a reply very soon.

I Came, I Saw, I Had a Blast!

Well, I went down to good 'ol Huntsville, Alabama at the end of last week to take part in the 20th Anniversary Celebration! While I'm not lucky enough to be going to camp this summer, at least I could go down for that!

Anyway, I got back the other day...The unfortunate thing about vacations is that they have to end!

If I get around to it, perhaps I'll write a little article about my few days down there. At the very least, I'll be posting some photos from the event!

Just in case I don't get to writing an article, I'd at least like to publically say "Thank you" to everyone that made me truly feel as if Space Camp was my home-away-from-home (as I've always liked to think of it). So to everyone who made it possible for me to have a fantastic time while visiting ("ya'll" know who you are Happy, THANK YOU FOR THE GREAT TIME!!!

An Additional Thing on the 25th

I was over at Space Camp's website and saw that they have made an addition to the list of things going on at the 20th Anniversary Celebration...

...It would seem as if you will now get a free poster when you go!

Take a look
here.

It looks really, really nice!

20th Anniversary Celebration in One Week!

Just a reminder to all, Space Camp will be celebrating its 20th Anniversary in one week!

If you're planning to go, you better have arrangements made, or get them finalized 5 minutes ago!

For those not going, be sure to go share your experiences at camp at
spacecamp.com's Alumni Testimonials page.

HabForum Announcment -- Special Rank to be Assigned...

In honor of this new forum system (and the amazing flexibility it offers), I've created the special rank, "An Original Seven" that will be given to the first seven people to post seven legitimate posts to the new forum. If you've posted in the old forum, great...but those posts will not factor in to the count to seven.

Only seven people
will ever have this rank and rank image (Original Seven Rank Image)

Update: They're all gone!

Don't worry if you don't make the first seven...several other custom ranks will almost certainly be created in the future, and the best way to qualify for those is to register and start posting!

HabFiles Update -- Application Covers!

I've updated the HabFiles again, this time with scans of the covers from the years I have of Space Camp's application book. I have more than half of them, but I still need a significant number before I'll have the whole set (If you have ones I don't, please let me know!)! Eventually, I plan to scan the books cover-to-cover (there're a lot of interesting details in them), but this will take some time. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy the covers.
